Optimize and Clean up Tutorial

This guide can be use on a laptop or a desktop computer.

Before we start, I strongly recommend that you start downloading the free Google Pack, we will need software in it (Norton and Spyware Doctor) click the button and start the download.

While the Google Pack is being download…

-         Reduce the cache of your internet browser, only allow 25 to 50 megs of cache wich is more than enough.  The cache is where all the web  cookies, video file is store on your hard drive. Here come the bad stuff, it is also where malicious program (Virus, Spyware and Adware also called Malware or Badware) can be hiding from you and spying on you. They then generate pop ups, change your startup page and can also grab your personal information and steal your identity wich is pretty bad. Open your web browser and on the top menu click on Tools

Then click on settings and reduce to 25 megs.

Give a try to Firefox,

-         You need to uninstall unused applications. Computer Software is like human clothing, if you don't wear a piece of cloth for more than a year well, there a good chance you will never wear it anymore. Goto the Start buton - Settings - Control Panel and select Add/Remove Program. Browse in the list of application currently installed in your Pc and remove any software that you are not using anymore.

-         Now check on your desktop, on the C drive and all other drives for files that you don’t need and just trash them and empty the recycle bin.

Cleaning Spyware and Virus

-    Click on  Spyware Doctor in the Google Pack windows or in your Program Menu, when you see the screen below appear, click the Smart Update buton to update the Database for any new threats.

Select Start Scan and Click on Full Scan then click Scan Now, this could take 10 to 15 minutes depending your Computer speed.

When the Scan is complete, make sure to select all Threats  and click Fix Checked

Done with Spyware Doctor for now.

-Open up Norton Security Scan in the Google Pack window or your Programs Menu

Select the Full System Scan option and click Start Scan
